description: While alcohol consumption is normalized in modern day American society, it remains the 3rd leading cause of preventable death and leader in organ degeneration across all bodily systems. WrisTACS is a biochemical sensor watch band that allows the user to monitor their alcohol consumption via a mobile application. This non-invasive wearable device analyzes the chemical outputs found after human digestion and metabolization of ethanol. Hydrogen Peroxide levels within baseline sweat on skin is quantified, and it calculates the users Transdermal Alcohol Content (TAC). With this number, a range of safe TAC and unsafe TAC can be estimated and used to help the user make informed decisions about their further alcohol consumption and become more aware of their current condition. On the WrisTACS app, the data is conveniently displayed via graphs, data logs, and historical records, and is accompanied by a notification system for clear user understanding. The purpose of this app is to educate the targeted user about alcohol consumption standards over time, and to exercise the overlap between Biomedical Engineering and Computer Engineering in an impactful and innovative way.
