description: CircuitsTogether is an open source platform that models real lab environments in order to provide a realistic virtual experience. The platform was created during the COVID-19 pandemic that forced many higher education institutions to transition to online platforms. The team used the Unity game engine to create much of the elements of the environment itself. A sample space was modeled after an electrical lab. The sample space used premade assets from the Unity store in order to create the textures and features of a real lab environment. A SPICE library has also been integrated into the lab space to facilitate real measurements of lab components. The proof of concept shows that it is possible to create a realistic environment that accurately models real-world tools. When compared to other virtual environments, CircuitsTogether has some unique advantages. Services like TinkerCAD, while they do offer real-time collaboration, they do not offer the same interactivity within a lab setting. Praxilabs requires a paid account in order to download their software. This offers CircuitsTogether an advantage because we plan to make use of a marketplace feature in order to offset the costs of free membership for personal users.
