description: The “ALR Dog Management System” was a database solution designed for the charity group American Lab Rescue. ALR works with shelters along the east coast to help dogs find a permanent home here in the northeast. They previously managed all of the records through individual spreadsheets and shared information though group-email. Our project provides the organization with a centralized database to store and share their records; alongside a web portal to easily submit and access the data. The web server for the project was built using Spring, a framework for developing web-based applications. This allowed easy deployment of additional technologies and libraries, due to Spring wide use in the professional world. The database was built using MySQL and managed by Hibernate, which provided a seamless transition between the datastores and Java Objects used by the server.
