The research presented in this thesis explores the effects narrative has on design. A narrative that is constantly reinterpreted across civilizations throughout time has been the story of a hero. Coined the Hero’s Journey by Joseph Campbell, this framework for storytelling is studied and reinterpreted through the lens of a designer. The outcomes of this research lead to a design that focuses on articulating an unknown story spatially by using the themes of the Hero’s Journey to guide the design.
